Alstom is seeking a Composite Mechanic for a career-defining role based in Colton, CA. This unionized position requires joining the Union organization. The role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles, performing tasks like engine overhauls, electrical system work, and more. The pay rate for this position is $28.68 per hour.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules, regulations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair engines, air brake equipment, running gear, and locomotive components.
- Perform equipment work order management using asset management database.
- Operate locomotives, passenger coaches, and prime movers to move rail equipment.
- Additional duties as assigned in accordance with union agreement and incidental work rule provisions.
Required Experience:
- 2 years of combined mechanical and/or electrical work experience in a relevant field (Formal education may substitute for experience).
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Experience interpreting circuit schematics.
Required Education:
- High School diploma/GED.
- Valid Driver's License.
Work Environment:
- Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis.
- Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and climbing on a regular basis.
- Requires walking long distances over uneven terrain.
- Exposure to equipment that intensifies heat on an occasional basis.
