Job Description & Requirements
The Welder is responsible for building welding programs (Orbital and Manual) with minimal engineering oversight. This role involves reviewing engineering drawings, planning welding operations, and performing complex assembly tasks in accordance with production procedures and specifications. The Welder ensures precision, safety, and adherence to quality standards in all work processes.
Primary Responsibilities
Build and develop orbital and manual welding programs with little to no engineering oversight.
Review engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations when procedural information is unavailable.
Assemble and install parts on products per production instructions, procedures, and drawings.
Execute tasks such as bending tubes, prepping products for termination, torquing/tensioning fasteners, and mixing potting material.
Record traceability information accurately during work activities.
Create templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
Determine appropriate welding types (e.g., metallic arc, inert gas, electrode, oven treatment) based on materials, contours, and stress tolerances.
Inspect grooves, angles, and gap allowances to ensure conformance using precision measuring instruments (micrometer, caliper, etc.).
Understand and adjust welding inputs based on material preparation changes.
Perform troubleshooting requiring in-depth knowledge of welding properties of metals, rods, heats, and stress effects.
Achieve, maintain, and perform certified orbital and manual OSS welding procedures inspected under quality programs (e.g., ultrasonic, radiographic, die penetrant, bend testing).
Assemble medium-complexity components such as umbilical terminations and distribution equipment.
Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing and Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
2–3 years of relevant welding experience.
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate Degree in Welding or equivalent preferred.
