Job Description & Requirements

Ecore (Pro-Techs Surfacing) is seeking a hands‑on, highly reliable Field Installation Supervisor to oversee playground surfacing installation projects across the Midwest. This role is ideal for someone with a construction background who thrives in the field, enjoys leading crews, and can ensure high‑quality installation standards for customers including schools, parks, municipalities, and commercial clients.

You will supervise subcontractor crews, verify installation quality, conduct on‑site inspections, test surfacing for ASTM compliance, and serve as the primary on‑site representative for Pro-Techs.  A company vehicle is provided for all travel.


What You’ll Do

Project & Crew Supervision

  • Oversee all phases of playground surfacing installation including excavation, sub‑base preparation, and product installation.
  • Supervise subcontractors to ensure work meets Pro-Techs specifications, installation manuals, and safety standards.
  • Verify accuracy of onsite work:
    • Excavation depths
    • Sub‑base grading
    • Surfacing thickness, CFH (Critical Fall Height) requirements, and use zones
  • Set daily goals for installation crews and assist them with planning and productivity.
  • Troubleshoot on-site problems, delays, and unexpected conditions with effective solutions.
  • Communicate project progress, quality findings, and issues to internal stakeholders and clients.

Quality, Documentation & Safety

  • Perform regular site inspections and maintain consistently high standards of workmanship.
  • Test surfacing for ASTM F1292 compliance.
  • Document daily progress, issues, corrective actions, and lessons learned for installation manual updates.
  • Submit expense documentation and required project paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Enforce Pro-Techs safety policies as well as OSHA safety standards on every job site.

Client & Stakeholder Interaction

  • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, engineers, architects, and end users to ensure project goals are met.
  • Provide professional, clear communication and maintain strong relationships with clients and field teams.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License (clean driving record – 6 points or less)
  • OSHA‑30 certification
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience in the general construction industry
  • Experience working independently in remote field locations
  • Ability to read specifications, set grade, and verify accurate stone and surfacing installation
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer and mobile applications (Microsoft Office, email, mobile reporting tools)
  • Ability to travel extensively and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred / Growth Opportunities

  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) – must be willing to obtain; compensation increase available upon certification
  • Experience coordinating travel, making accommodations, and planning site visits

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Frequent travel throughout the Midwest (IN, downstate Indiana, KY, TN)
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors, including heat, cold, and variable weather
  • Required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, vest, pants, and other protective equipment
